For the past six years, a strange sound has been heard emanating from various venues in the Pioneer Valley.

At times both jazzy and funky, the noise defies definitive description. Many listeners, upon their first encounter with such an unusual beat, become entranced by the swirling rhythms and the conglomeration of instruments that creates them.

Live TV Performance in Greenfield, MA

Shokazoba needs YOU to come be on TV with us in Greenfield. We are doing a live taping on Valley Homegrown TV. We'll be playing an hour long set from 7-8, and want to have a live audience.
This is a free performance and is first come/first served to get in. Doors open at 6 and you can watch the soundcheck as well!

Afro funk-a-thon dance spectacular with Shokazoba and EMEFE!

To close out the Northampton Jazz Festival, Shokazoba and New York's EMEFE will be hosting a dance party at...where else? THE BISH!!
EMEFE is a band lead by Miles Arntzen, a young musician based in New York City. Miles got the group together in December of the year 2009 after beginning his studies in the Jazz Department at New York University, taking inspiration mainly from his musical heroes in Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra and Medeski Martin and Wood, in addition to his new teachers and fellow students at NYU.
